Why We Need to Start Talking About Money (and Why I Love It)

Aug 07, 2025

For many of us growing up, money was the one topic that was never discussed openly. It was whispered about behind closed doors or avoided altogether at family gatherings. Talking about money felt taboo, even shameful. But here’s the thing: money touches every part of our lives. The sooner we bring it into the light, the sooner we can take control of it.

I didn’t grow up with open, healthy conversations about money either. I had to figure it out myself, through trial and error, and lots of lessons along the way. In my 20s, I fumbled with my finances. It wasn’t until my late 30s that I thought, Enough. It’s time to get my act together. That decision changed everything—and now I’m passionate about helping other women do the same.

Here’s why I love talking about money, and why you should too:

✨ 1. Money is Energy
Money flows in and out of our lives, just like energy. When we embrace this flow, rather than resisting it or fearing it, we can start making intentional choices about how we earn, spend, and save. The energy we bring to money—scarcity or abundance—shapes how it shows up in our lives.

✨ 2. Money Gets Things Done
Whether it’s fixing a broken appliance, paying for an emergency flight, or launching a passion project, money is a tool to make things happen. It’s not about hoarding wealth; it’s about having the resources to solve problems and create opportunities—for yourself and others.

✨ 3. Money Helps Us Help Others
One of the most beautiful things about financial stability is the ability to give back. Whether it’s donating to charity, supporting a friend in need, or teaching your kids about generosity, money enables us to make a meaningful difference.

✨ 4. Money Gives You Choices
Do you want to work part-time? Take a dream holiday? Invest in your health? Money gives you the freedom to choose how you live your life. It’s not about extravagance—it’s about aligning your spending with what matters most to you.

✨ 5. Money Builds Legacy
Your financial decisions today ripple into the future. Whether you leave an inheritance, fund your children’s education, or support causes you care about, money allows you to create a legacy of impact and care.

Here’s the truth: money isn’t good or bad. It’s simply a tool. And when you learn how to manage it confidently, you can use it to build the life you want—on your own terms.

So let’s break the silence around money. Ask questions. Talk to your children about it. Talk to your friends about it. The more we normalize these conversations, the more empowered we become.

You deserve to feel clarity, confidence, and freedom with your finances.
