Money School Fundamentals: 5 Lessons That Will Transform the Way You Think About Money
Nov 13, 2025If you’ve ever wished money came with a manual, you’re not alone.
Most of us weren’t taught how money really works — not in school, not at home, and definitely not in a way that connects to how we live and dream as adults. That’s why I created what I like to call Money School — a simple, structured way to build financial confidence and clarity, no matter where you’re starting from.
Here are the five fundamentals of Money School that every woman should know.
1. Understand What Money Really Is
Money is simply a tool — a means of exchanging value. Once upon a time, people traded cocoa beans or shells; today, we use dollars. But the principle is the same.
The problem is, we’ve layered money with so many emotions — fear, guilt, anxiety — that we forget its neutrality.
When you take the emotion out of it and see it for what it is, you regain your power. Money is there to serve you, not control you.
2. Know How Much You Need (and Want)
There’s a big difference between needing money to survive and wanting money to thrive.
Start with the basics — a safe home, nourishing food, clothing for your climate — and then expand to the experiences that light you up.
Clarity here helps you direct your energy and resources toward what truly matters. It’s not about chasing “more,” but defining “enough” for you.
3. Earn Money in a Way That Feels Aligned
Earning money isn’t just about a paycheck — it’s about purpose.
Whether you exchange time, knowledge, or creativity, the “how” of your income matters. Many of us fall into careers that we’re good at but don’t love. When you align earning with your strengths and values, money becomes a by-product of doing meaningful work — not the reason for it.
4. Learn What to Do With the Money You Earn
Once money flows in, you face three choices: save, spend, or invest.
-
Save to build discipline and safety.
-
Spend on what sustains and enriches your life.
-
Invest to grow your wealth and create future freedom.
When you see these actions side by side, you gain balance. The question isn’t “how do I stick to a budget?” — it’s “how can I make my money reflect what I value most?”
5. Automate and Enjoy Life
This is where the magic happens.
Automation takes the stress out of money. Schedule transfers to savings, automate investments, and simplify your financial systems so your money flows where it needs to — without you having to think about it.
Freedom isn’t about having more; it’s about knowing your money is working quietly behind the scenes while you live your life.
Money School isn’t about perfection. It’s about empowerment.
When you learn, apply, and refine these fundamentals, you stop reacting to money and start leading it. That’s when true abundance begins.
